Corporal Christopher Young enlisted in January 1776 into Cpt Jonathan Clark’s Company. He served until April 1778. There is a grave marker in Patriots Square, Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio to Christopher Young who died in Ross county in 1842. (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/11566457/christophere-young). The memorial stone (and others) were placed by the Sons of the American Revolution to honor those soldiers from the county whose burial site had not been identified. (The Gazette Staff “Ross County’s war heroes honored at last”, Chillicothe Gazette, 21 May 2003, p. 3.)

My 4th great grandfather, Richard Pile, is buried in Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His tombstone states he was a Sergeant in the 8th Virginia, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/91601639/richard-pile. His parents were from Berkeley County so I’m assuming it is the original 8th Virginia before folded in those other Virginia regiments. I’m also assuming he ended up in Clark County Indiana after receiving a land grant for his service.

I don't see Richard Pile on the rolls. That likely means he was in the 12th Virginia, which was redesignated. See here for explanation: https://www.8thvirginia.com/blog/the-other-8th-virginia-regiments
